Best Practices in Suicide-Safer Care 2026

In this 2-hour workshop, clinicians will learn AIM for Zero, New York State’s model for integrating suicide prevention into behavioral healthcare. Best practices in screening and assessing for suicide risk, interventions for those at risk, and monitoring risk in outpatient settings will be discussed, as well as understanding the impact of one’s own beliefs and feelings about suicide in working with suicidal individuals.

 

Alexi Saldamando, LCSW-R – As the Director of
Clinical Initiatives for the Office of Mental
Health’s Suicide Prevention Center of New
York (SPCNY), Alexi leads and helps
develop a wide range of suicide prevention
initiatives for behavioral healthcare
providers across New York State, with the
goal of implementing suicide-safer care practices.

Paige Lorette, LMHC-D – Paige has been in the field of,
mental health for 10 years. After completing a
Masters in Counseling and Community
Psychology, she worked in prevention with the
juvenile justice population and began clinical
work as a Functional Family Therapist in
Schenectady County. She started her work
with SPCNY as the Training and Postvention
Coordinator in the Summer of 2022.

2 NYSED CE credits

*This workshop is a graduation requirement for candidates and interns in all programs. Candidates who are not graduating from their training program this year can attend this year, next year, or any other year before graduation. Any candidates who have already taken this workshop have fulfilled the requirement and do not have to take it again.
