*Graduates are eligible to apply for Second Year of Analytic Program. OPEN HOUSE & CLINICAL PRESENTATIONS Saturday, March 29, 2008 RSVP to Liliana Manca 212-333-3444 or lmanca.training@icpnyc.org Purpose: ICP's Two-Year Evening Program in Contemporary Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a convenient evening program designed to provide an intensive learning experience combining course work, individual and group supervision, patient contact and individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy. It is our philosophy that the development of treatment skill and competence can be best carried out in a setting in which the continued personal growth of the therapist is fostered. The program, therefore, emphasizes the development of personal awareness as well as the development of technical skill and theoretical knowledge. Eligibility: Social Workers, Psychologists, Psychiatric Nurses, Physicians, Creative Arts Therapists and other mental health professionals. Applicants must have a Master's degree or higher. Students who opt to work with ICP patients must carry Malpractice Liability insurance. Requirements of the Program: Upon the satisfactory fulfillment of all requirements of the program, students will be awarded a Letter of Completion. A. Curriculum: The curriculum consists of a Two-Year course of study with two fifteen-week trimesters each year. Classes meet Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:15 pm Each evening, participants attend one theoretical course, one clinical course and one group supervision. B. Caseload: Each student is required to work with two patients in weekly psychotherapy. Students may choose to be assigned patients from the Institute's clinic. ICP clinical services provide psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy for a population of over 500 patients per week. Our students have a ready and varied population with which to gain experience in the practice of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This availability makes for a variety of learning experiences not possible at other institutes which do not have active clinics. Upon approval by their supervisors, students in the Two-Year Program may opt instead to work with patients from private practice or work settings. C. Personal Psychotherapy: Students are required to be in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at least once weekly throughout their training. The student's therapist must be a graduate of an analytic institute or have equivalent experience, and be approved by our Training Committee. Note: A list of ICP therapists who make reduced-fee hours available to students is available on request. D. Supervision: In addition to group supervision which takes place on Tuesday evenings one individual supervision session per week is required. Students choose their supervisors from a list of Two-Year Program supervisors. Scheduling of supervisory sessions is worked out with the supervisor. Fees are set at a reduced rate of $40 per session, payable to the supervisor. Satisfactory Progress: Maintenance of matriculation as well as readiness to receive the Letter of Completion will be determined through periodic evaluation by the Training Committee. As our objective is to train our candidates and help them complete the program, and as we believe in the ability to change, there is a continued open dialogue between candidates, their supervisors, and the Training Committee concerning strengths and areas needing improvement. All supervisory reports are open to the candidates' inspection, as are all discussions of their progress in the Training Committee meetings. The rare candidate who consistently fails to demonstrate satisfactory progress may, after careful consultation, be asked to take a leave of absence or be suspended from the program. Tuition and Expenses: Tuition is $1,800 per year, payable to ICP by the first day of classes. This fee covers course work and group supervision. All candidates are also required to pay annual fees for ICP Library membership ($25). A tuition reduction of 10% is offered to candidates who pay the year's tuition and fees by July 31st. Candidates are responsible for their own personal therapy and supervisory fees. Stipend: Students working with ICP clinic patients will be paid $6 per session.
